The Power Of Business Networking
21 Jul 2015 | Category: SME's
This week, I had a most enjoyable cup of coffee and a catch up with an old business acquaintance, Jim Gilhooley. He is an HR professional at Morlan Gil who helps companies with recruitment and is keen to ensure that new/small businesses don’t fall into some of the most common traps. This is great for us at Enterprise First and also for our clients.
He presented me with a copy of his impressive new brochure and mentioned that the artwork was created by Christine Hammacott of the Art of Communication. It turns out that I knew Christine from a local networking group and had given her quite a bit of work over the years. This led to a discussion about the power of networking and uncovered the fact that we had met at an event twelve years ago and that, in the last month, I had met up with four of the people that he has also kept in touch with and has since conducted business with one way or another.
The interesting thing about all this is that I don’t remember us ever trying to sell to each other, either at the event where we first met or when we have bumped into each other since. Having said that, opportunities have arisen where we have been able to help each other and this is the true power of networking!
