News : Enterprise First Reception

    Over 70 business leaders met at the Guildford Guildhall to hear from Enterprise First on their recent and planned activities in supporting start-up, new and small businesses. This reception also saw the official launch of the Enterprise First Sponsors Club.

    The Guildford area in particular has seen a significant increase in client demand supported by Guildford Borough Council. Cllr Tony Rooth, Leader of the Council speaking at the reception, stated that the Council are keen to support businesses in Guildford and have a number of initiatives ongoing, including working closely with Enterprise First.

    With increasing client demand, Enterprise First officially launched it’s new Sponsors Club. Support from the private sector is crucial in allowing Enterprise First to continue to deliver a free or subsidised service. In return there are many opportunities for sponsors to work in partnership with Enterprise First particularly in delivering workshops and at networking events. Two immediate new members are Lloyds TSB, keen to support well advised businesses and Poldings, a Hampshire based web hosting solutions business.     Looking ahead, Chairman Steve Leggett, and Chief Executive John Mitchell, spoke of a challenging economic climate for the foreseeable future. Enterprise First will be expanding it’s programme of support, and introducing new services to help clients access finance and in supporting young people into enterprise. It is also keen to manage further Enterprise Centres providing the accommodation and mentoring needs for new and small businesses.
